The math game of 24 promotes patterns and number sense, as well as, builds critical thinking skills.  Last year E.B.S held the first school wide 24 competition for 4th and 5th graders.  It was such a huge success that the tournament is expanding and all the elementary schools in Scripps Ranch will be invited to participate in the first ever Scripps Ranch 24 competition.  This will take place in June!  Stay tuned for more details!

Character Education

Fostering Positive Character Traits is an Essential Part of Student Growth

Volunteer in your child’s classroom leading a discussion, reading a book, role playing, or even doing skits and puppet shows that relate to each month's character trait: Responsibility, Generosity, Gratitude, Respect, Forgiveness, Honesty, Compassion, Cooperation, Perseverance, and Loyalty.  Easy-to-follow lesson plans for each grade are on the Character Education website.  Each classroom needs one or two volunteers, as this is a job that can be shared. EBS Dress Boutique

This year will mark our second annual Dress Boutique, where gently worn dresses (fancy to casual) are donated to the school. In turn, the dresses will be sold and all proceeds will go toward EBS. These dresses would be great for holidays, family photos and even the EBS father/Daughter Dance. This is a perfect way to reuse girls dresses!

International Night

At EBS we have a diverse culture. International night is an opportunity for students and their families to share and experience various ethnic backgrounds.  It’s an evening to hear stories and legends, sample new dishes, listen to exotic music and see traditional attire from different countries.  Last year, EBS celebrated its first International Night exhibiting over 17 countries including, Russian, Taiwanese,  Japanese, Israeli,  Mandarin,  Punjabi, Mexican,  Swiss, English, Korean,  European, Middle Eastern,  Indian,  Vietnamese, Philippines and  German .  The evening was amplified with both enthusiasm and curiosity as students and family members displayed artifacts important to them at their own booth.  Aromas from different foods filled the air and interactive activities such as making crafts kept all entertained along with a contest on who visited the most country booths and got their passports stamped.  We can’t forget the parade across the stage as our students pranced across the stage wearing traditional clothing, and hearing where everyone is from.  If you would like to be involved with the committee or wish to have a booth, please contact Gail Faber at president@ebs-afp.org<mailto:president@ebs-afp.org>
