Start Times

Students in grades 3-5 will come up to the field by 9:05am, line up at the start line and warm up as a class.  They will begin running at 9:15 am. There will be a tapered start by grade. This means at approximately 9:15am, the 3rd grade classes will start, at 9:16am, the 4th grade classes will start and at 9:17am, the 5th grade classes will start. They will run for an hour, ending an hour from the start of the last grade.  Students in grades TK-2 will come up to the field by 10:40am line up as a class at the start line, warm up a bit and begin a tapered start as well.

Handy info for your racer

On event day, students will walk up with their teacher and/or classroom rep.  Someone will be standing near the entrance to help direct the classrooms to their zones.   At each tented zone, kids can refresh their waters, have fruit and relax in between laps if needed. Students will start and finish through cone lanes to make it less congested at the front of the race. As the kids come around to the start of the race, they will run through the lanes and be met with a volunteer who will scan their name card. All scanning will be done here as opposed to each classroom’s zone as they have been in the past. All students will stay on the main path. We will have a squirt zone turn off where kids can choose to run through and be squirted or can run around it if they do not want to get wet.

Tracking Laps:

This will be the 3rd year using our lap tracker technology.  These are the same scanners used for before school run club and has proven to be a much more efficient and accurate way of tracking laps.  Each student will run with a customized scan card that will record laps when they are scanned each lap.  Although we strive to be completely accurate, there is no perfect system so please allow for human error.

Students will receive a free t-shirt for the event.  These t-shirts are color coordinated for each grade.  They will receive these shirts on race day before they head up to run.  Please look for a communication from your classroom jog a thon coordinator to find out your child’s color.

Thank you for your positive support and encouragement during our Jog-A-Thon!

Encourage your kids to add a bit of exercise each day before Jog-A-Thon so they can obtain a personal best.

Being fit is a way of saying a person eats well, gets a lot of physical activity (exercise), and has a healthy weight. If you're fit, your body works well, feels good, and can do all the things you want to do, like run around with your friends. ~Kidshealth.org
